Die Namensgeberinnen der Stiftung Mutter Edith und Tochter Barbara Achilles verband seit 1960 das Sammeln von Kunstwerken. Ab den 1990er-Jahren sammelte Edith Achilles gezielt zeitgen\u00f6ssische Glasobjekte. Auch nach dem Tod der Tochter im Jahr 2010 setzte sie ihre gemeinsame Arbeit fort und gr\u00fcndete die Barbara-Achilles-Stiftung. Bis zu ihrem eigenen Tod zehn Jahre sp\u00e4ter hatte sie die Sammlung stetig erweitert. Sie umfasst heute ca. 300 Objekte von 140 K\u00fcnstlern und zeigt speziell abstrakte oft gro\u00dfformatige Glasskulpturen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Die Stiftung wurde 1996 von Kurt und Lilly Ernsting auf einem historischen Hof in Coesfeld gegr\u00fcndet, um Kunst und Kultur in der Region zu f\u00f6rdern. Die von Lilly Ernsting zun\u00e4chst privat \u00fcber 40 Jahre hinweg angelegte Kunstsammlung entwickelte sich zu einer der wichtigsten Sammlungen Europas, die mehrmals im Jahr in Ausstellungen pr\u00e4sentiert wird und regelm\u00e4\u00dfig exklusiv neue Exponate zeigt. Im Museum werden dabei ausgew\u00e4hlte Objekte ausgestellt, w\u00e4hrend parallel dazu im Nebengeb\u00e4ude alle bisherigen Werke in einer Art Dauerausstellung zug\u00e4nglich sind.<\/p>\n

1993 wurde die Seven-Bridges-Stiftung von Richard McKenzie gegr\u00fcndet, um aufstrebende K\u00fcnstler zu unterst\u00fctzen. Die Stiftung pr\u00e4sentiert in zwei Galerien und im freien Raum ihre aus Gem\u00e4lden, Skulpturen und Fotografien bestehende Sammlung. Dabei sind die Objekte durch die beiden Geb\u00e4ude in Werke traditioneller Techniken (z. B. \u00d6l auf Leinwand, Bronze, Stein) und Werke zeitgen\u00f6ssischer Kunst gr\u00f6\u00dferer Materialvielfalt unterteilt.
