Ab den 1990er-Jahren sammelte Edith Achilles gezielt zeitgen\u00f6ssische Glasobjekte. Auch nach dem Tod der Tochter im Jahr 2010 setzte sie ihre gemeinsame Arbeit fort und gr\u00fcndete die Barbara-Achilles-Stiftung. Bis zu ihrem eigenen Tod zehn Jahre sp\u00e4ter hatte sie die Sammlung stetig erweitert. Die von Lilly Ernsting zun\u00e4chst privat \u00fcber 40 Jahre hinweg angelegte Kunstsammlung entwickelte sich zu einer der wichtigsten Sammlungen Europas, die mehrmals im Jahr in Ausstellungen pr\u00e4sentiert wird und regelm\u00e4\u00dfig exklusiv neue Exponate zeigt.
