Underwater
Behrens’ first series of works is an extraction from sensory impressions and observations “Underwater”. Their attraction is embodied in an engaging way, in objects that are sometimes monumental due to their size and thickness. At second glance, a fourth dimension reveals itself to the viewer, giving space to the liveliness in the depth of the works. The transparent surfaces allow light to penetrate from all sides, revealing moving lines, almost rhythmic shades of color, and inner reflections. The material, only recently familiar to Behrens at this point, is explored, and the self-taught ability stands out. Even at this early stage of artistic creation, several works find their way into public collections.
